Product review – Chickpea/Lentil Pasta

If you are gluten intolerance or coeliac, I have found the new best pasta on the block! No need to inundate your body with any more corn, chickpea pasta has hit the block and it tastes phenomenal! I say that because I am truly blown away by how good it tastes. I rate the chickpea one in this article but I have tried the lentil one too and it’s just as good.

I found this new product while wondering the isles of Wellness Warehouse, and I just HAD to try it out. I must say, I am usually quite hesitant to buy a gluten-free pasta as i’m worried about the ingredients and figure, well If I can’t eat gluten then I shouldn’t look for alternatives. I generally believe you should stick to foods naturally free from gluten. But this pasta has been made using 100% chickpeas, which is pretty unreal. Like I’m not even really sure how you can do that, but I am assured its correct. Anyway, this is legit – it actually tastes like pasta and it’s actually good for you!

A Note from Happy Earth People: 

I had been traveling, teaching and witnessing children eating the wrong foods. It was so evident that sugary refined foods were affecting them in the classroom, so I embarked on a massive mission to reconnect the dots.

Candice was working for a health foods company at the time, witnessing all sorts of lifestyle-related illnesses as well as experiencing her own journey using food as medicine.

When I got back to SA, my gran was sick and I was her primary carer during her last days… I did even more research on food, and how we are consuming things that kill us slowly without even knowing it.

One night, I was meditating and then it hit me; “Happy Earth People” we need to reconnect to wholeness; how we eat, think and see ourselves on this planet. But how?  Through naturally powerful, delicious, legume-based foods – and I could go on forever about the dynamite that legumes are; nutritionally as well as environmentally :)

With a bottle of wine in on hand and our best intentions in the other, Candice and I joined forces to make the very first lentil pasta. And guess what? It worked!! We literally did a happy dance :)

We currently have two products available; 100% chickpea & red lentil pasta, no additives, no bulking agents. Just legume goodness, and we love it that way.

We have so much love in our hearts, we want to see everyone happy and healthy, and that includes our precious planet.

What now?

Well, get cooking already! I have made specially made a homemade basil pesto, just for you. Top your pasta with basil pesto and roasted tomatoes, for a yummy and well-rounded gluten free and vegetarian meal. Alternatively, add some chicken strips and feta for a true family favourite :)
